The program was started by Veena Kriplani who presented the Sarvadharma Prarthana.
Thereafter Dr Mahipal Ghemawat talked on ‘ Health Care’. He advised members to take care of health by following the instructions of Doctors meticulously. He wanted that people must take care of their medication by keeping them away from Light, Moisture and Temperature. It is not advisable to keep medicines in folded papers. Besides that patient must describe all problems to doctor in detail for diagnoses of the decease. He added it is also very important to take proper care after the decease is identified. It is better to develop self-discipline in order to remain fit. He cautioned regarding the expiry date of medication as thereafter it would loose its effectiveness. He said that the ‘ The yogurt has the bacteria which are more hygienic for the consumer. Therefore it is good for health. It is better to use computer for keeping your health data up to date. He submitted paper and advised the members to give their specific health problems in order to do research thereon. It will also enable him to give better guidance.
Ramkrisna Ayyar talked on his encounter with the people and institutions during his professional life as Accountant General of Maharashtra State. He felt that whenever any important job was assigned to him it created lot of resentments in ‘Indian Administrative Service’ lobby of the state. He worked on many important projects like Koyna Dam, Secretariat Gymkhana, and Metro for Bombay. However he was more connected with scrutiny of those projects. He observed in light manner that some time white papers were pasted by higher office on the file wherein adverse noting is being made at lower level. He said that ‘It was very funny that some officer use to draw separates salaries for holding two posts. It came under scrutiny from account section of the government. However he said he learnt that ‘ Do not to give too much stress that you are doing right. Besides that always keep in mind the mistakes of the past. He ended his talk by stating that ‘ when courage ends stupidity begins.’
Indu Chhabra made atmosphere lighter by presenting humorous tit bits.
P Thiyagrajan former chief income tax commissioner talked on ‘ How the political power is used by the government to help its supporters and to pressurized the political opponents through income tax machinery.’ He gave few incidents regarding the same. Besides that he stated that it is difficult to understand the Indian income tax law, as income is not clearly defined. Therefore all receipts are taxable. However he observed that ‘ the income tax receipts have increased due to lowering the tax rates.
C G Desai, Dr V K Jotwani, Akur Srinivasan and Arya Bhusan also took part in the discussion.
Dr Padma Rajgopalan sang classical karnataki music along with some devotional songs. It was also well received by members.
