The program was started with the devotional song by Veena Menon.
Thereafter Balwant Puranik presented his analytical talk on 'The Middle East Crisis'.
He apprised that Taliban have been removed from Afghanistan and elected government is being installed, but Taliban are reemerging from their hide out. In short stability and security still lacking in Afghanistan.
Saddam was also removed by USA from Iraq and have established the elected government. However they had overlooked the depth of sectarian conflict between shia and sunny. It is creating ever going violence in that country.
He was of opinion that even Arabs are not interested in solving the conflict between Israel and Palestine for the reason best known to them.
He further added that Iran's economy depends upon oil and if sanction is imposed on it, then it will further deteriorate the condition of common men in Iran.
He concluded that America is trying sincerely to establish democracies in the Middle East countries, but those countries are uncomfortable with it due to their deep rooted problems.
Dhanu Siva, Ramakrishna Ayyar also took part in further discussion thereon.
Nilu Gupta gave talk on ' The Adult and Women Abuses'. She described the various type of abuses, i.e. emotional, physical,Neglect,Mistreatment,Domestic violence etc. She also gave the names of the agencies who helps the victims. Besides that she also informed regarding laws against abuse, prevailing in the various states of USA. However she was of opinion that adult and women should face such abuses more effectively. she concluded that it is a good sign that the lot of consciousness have come among victims to face such abuses.
Nagin Jagada entertained very well with his humorous jokes.
Mrs Sita Dorairaj presented songs in Tamil, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati in her melodious voice. She presented Tukaram and Mirabai songs in Marathi and Gujarati very well.
Thereafter P K Banga presented few devotional songs and made whole atmosphere very light.
Pradeep Joshi, welcomed a guest speaker with flowers and gave brief idea regarding the seniors activities at the center.
Bharat Desai Event coordinator introduced the participants and a Guest Speaker Mary Tinker, Director, Public authority,In-home supportive services, Santa Clara County, Silicon Valley.
Mary Tinker gave brief idea regarding the services rendered by the In- home supportive services, Santa Clara County. She said that county is offering 12500 consumers In -home supportive Services with the help of 10000 care givers. She also distributed relative broachers to the Seniors which gives the out line of various schemes. Besides that she also answered the queries from some of the seniors regarding their practical problems. The vote of thanks was proposed by V K Dorairaj at the end.
