CURRENT EVENTS AS ON 03/01/2010, MONDAY AT 'ICC' CUPERTINO,CALIFORNIA

The current event program was conducted by Bharat Desai at India Community Center, CA. The program covered the hottest topics like ‘The latest on America’, and ‘The remarkable economic developments of Gujarat State’, India were also discussed. The production side of Movie was also explained. Besides analytical review of movie ‘My Name is Khan’ was also presented.
Mr. Jagtap offered Sanskrit devotional Mantras in the beginning of the program. It was received very well.
Mr. Dhanu Siva gave talk on ‘The latest on America’ wherein he described the practical problems faced by car user regarding manufacturing defects of Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, and Honda cars. He also gave highlight on the winter Olympic. Besides that he discussed the American relationship with China which is very much under strain due to military aid to Taiwan and its support to Dalai Lama on Tibet. He also pointed out that America is going to now put up two Nuclear Plants in Georgia. He added that America is producing only 20% of its power from nuclear plants while France is producing78% power from nuclear Plants. This is because America is facing the severe problem regarding the disposal of nuclear waste. He further informed that ‘Google’ is planning to introduce the 100 times faster Broad Band Internet for its user. He concluded that High Tech has brought the changes in the life of American youth as print is becoming their language with the future change of modes even in reading.
Smt Sujaya Aswadhati described the experiences of her late husband in the production of movies as Director. He was connected with the Telugu and Kanada Movie industries. He had also worked with Nageshwar Rao and Sri Devi in the production of movies. She said her husband had to struggle with successes and failures but she could understand that movie making is not easy. The life of movie Director is very strenuous as he has to look after all aspect of movies i.e. Editing, Dubbing, Sound Engineering, Music and Photography etc. It was a firsthand description from the wife of the Movie Director. She also briefly reviewed the movie ‘My Name is Khan’ wherein she congratulated the Karan Johor for handing the theme very well. She concluded that the acting of Shahrukhkhan and Kajal is also good.
Varsha Desai presented Gujarat state as growth machine of India which is compensating the growth rate of India i.e. Gujarat is having growth rate of about 10.6% while India’s growth rate is about 8%. She substantiated the above statements with the Facts and figures. She also added that Gujarat makes major Contribution in the India’s output i.e. 1)20% of Industrial output2)80% of Diamond production3)50% Natural Gas Production4) 54% of Crude Oil Production5)45% of Pharmaceutical Production 6) 24% of Textile Production7) 9% of Mineral production8) 22%of Export.9)35% of Sponge Iron Production10)47%of Petrochemical Production.11) 35%of Stock Market Wealth of India is with Guajarati People12)Gujarat stood first in India with investments of US $17.8 BILLION in the year 2006-2007 as per RBI Study. She concluded that Gujarat is really vibrant.
Thereafter Ramji Patel, M Santhnam, Suresh Sharma, Akur Srinivasan, R B Singh and C G Desai also participated in the discussion on the presentations.
Harshada Jawale presented Classical and Semi Classical Music including devotional song from Kabir. It was received very well by the members. Mr. M K Rao complimented the participants for their fine presentations and proposed vote of thanks.
