CURRENT EVENTS PROGRAM AS ON 4TH OCTOBER 2010

BACK GROUND

The Current Events program was initiated in the month of February 2002 at 'Indo American Community Service Center' Santa Clara,CA and which merged with India community center,CA. Thereafter the program continued at ICC,Sunnyvale and Cupertino respectively.
The main objectives of the program is to brief and create interest among members regarding the latest developments in the fields of politic, business/finance,science/technology, art/culture, sport. Besides that we wanted to involve learned members and to share their knowledge and experiences mutually.We have been able to involve about more then 80 members in the process. We have also invited 43 eminent persons from the various fields to share their knowledge and experience with our members including dozen prominent Artist from the Bay Area for entertainment.
The program is being successfully organized and coordinated by Bharat Desai with the active support of members and staff of the Center. The whole Hearted cooperation, supports of Dinesh Bajaj, Prof. A Srinivasan, M L Swamy, M Santhnam,A Narayanaswami,C G Desai,R Parthsarthy,Dr V K Jotwani, Hari Verma, A M Krishna, T P Subramonian,Smt Premlatabahen Majmundar, and Smt Shakuntalabahadur brought this program to the Greater Height. We have to thank them all for same. The staff and volunteers of ICC, Cupertino always gave their best support and cooperation for its success. We are also thankful to our members for their unflinching loyalty to the program and their support.

The above program arranged at India community center, Cupertino,CA. Bharat Desai who organized and coordinated the program could not handle the program due to unavoidable circumstances. It was conducted by A Srinivansan with the active support of M Santhnam in the absence of Bharat Desai.
The program stared with devotional song by Smt Pushpa Mathur.
Thereafter T P Subramonian gave talk on 'The Two Years of Obama'. He gave details regarding Obama's achievements and Failures thereof. It was received very well.
Kris Wang, Chief Guest and Hon. Mayor of Cupertino was introduced by Dinesh Bajaj. Thereafter Mayor was honored with the flowers by Smt Premlata Majmundar. Kris Wang, was very happy with program and praised the dedicated work of Bharat Desai who has been organizing and running the program successfully.
Tanuja Bahal, Executive Director of India community Center also appreciated the program and the dedicated work of Bharat Desai
Thereafter Fawn Reed,Staff Attorney, Senior Adult Law Assistance(SALA),and a Guest Speaker was introduced and was welcomed with flowers by Smt Sunila Fondekar. Fawn Reed gave talk on the Services offered by 'SALA' i.e. The services regarding SSI/MEDICAL/MEDICARE ETC. Her talk was received very well.
Shubhangi Sakhalkar, Renowned Artist of Bay Area who gave musical presentation of classical music was also honored with the flowers. Her musical presentation was praised by all.
The hand drawn sketches of Indian leaders of independence by Talwalkar, an eminent artist and member were also exhibited in the center during the 100th session of 'Current Events'
The Sum up and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr V K Jotwani at the end.
