Mrs. Mathur inaugurated the above program with the devotional songs.
Thereafter A Srinivasan presented his talk on North Korea and Iran. He briefly talked regarding the nuclear test by North Korea and its implication on the balance of power on surrounding countries like South Korea, Japan, and China. He said that atomic development in Iran will also make effect on the countries like Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel who are supporting America.
He stated that attack on Iraq without completing the mission in Afghanistan was also error of judgment. He said no weapon of mass destruction was found in Iraq for which the America attacked Iraq. All these actions have created anti American sentiment in Middle East and now America is not considered liberator but invader. Besides that civil war situation is created in Iraq due to the sectarian conflict. American people have also resented against American policy and due to that in mid term election republican have lost control on both the houses. The reverse of republican in midterm election resulted in the resignation of defense secretary Rams field.
Dr B M Mathur, Chandrasekhar R I,Balwant Puranik, A Narayanswami and Ramji Patel also took part in the discussion.
V K Dorairaj gave talk on India wherein he mentioned that India and china are planning to increase their trade up to $40 billion. Besides that they are going have Joint military exercise first time in the history. It shows that Indo-China relationship is further consolidating. He stated that India is developing with great speed. He substainsated it with the figures. He said India'’s Stock Sensex has crossed 13000 and its GDP is being maintained around 9.1%. Besides that foreign investment is also on increasing side.
Bharat Desai then talked about the latest on America. He briefed with the latest figures of population along with the reasons thereon. He also observed that Asian economies are very much competing with American economy. The local consumption, and productions in Asia are on high side which has reduce saving rate and increased the borrowings. All these factors will compensate even if American economy will slow down.
Thereafter Guest Speaker and Artist Seemaaji presented Hindustani classical Music and history thereon. Aarsad Saiyed played tabla with her. Seemaji also presented devotional songs of Meera / Kabir and Gazal of Talat Hasan on the request of members.
The solo presentation of Aarsad Saiyed on tabla was marvelous.
A Narayanswami summarized the presentations and proposed vote of Thanks.

ICC Reviews Current Events

The India Community Center of Milpitas held its current events program Dec. 4 in Milpitas, Calif. The program featured talks by A. Srinivasan on North Korea, Iran, and the Iraq War; V.K. Dorairaj on Sino-Indian relations; and Bharat Desai on the Asian economy.

The program also featured Hindustani classical singer Seema and tabla player Aarsad Saiyed, who performed the devotional songs of Meera and Kabir, and the gazals of Talat Aziz.
