The program was inaugurated with the devotional song of Mrs Laxmi Ramkrishna Ayyar.
Thereafter Dr N Srinivasan gave his presentation on certain diseases which are related to seniors i.e. diseases like Parkinson and diabetes.
He also explained the symptoms and treatments for those diseases. He said that Parkinson makes a person disabled. The patient Cannot to do his daily activities normally.
He further briefed regarding the two types of diabetes, i.e. Type one and Type two. In the type one person may be deficient of sugar and some time victims are supposed to be kept on insulin while the Type two is generally genetic or because of old age wherein system create more sugar and it has to be control by medications. The side effect of diabetes are that it affects eyes, kidney, liver, and create and joints pain problems. Even person feels fatigue due to diabetes. Dr Srinivasan guided Seniors how to control the diabetes with various type of exercises.
Ramakrishna Ayyar , L Venkatesan, Dr Mathur and Jayshree Vasavada also took part in the discussion thereon.
Rukkmini Srinivasan gave account of Indian parliamentary delegation visit to china under the leadership of Anantsam Iyenger then speaker of Loksabha of Indian parliament. The 90 minutes meeting of the delegation with then chairman Mao Tse Tung of china was very interesting. She described the talk delegation had with Chines chairman on the world problems. Mao Tse Tung was also worried about high defence budget of China then. He wanted it to be reduced gradually so that money can be diverted for reconstruction of China. He wanted China and India both should progress and go ahead. All these talk was noted by former foreign minister Natversingh, who was then foreign service official and who accompanied the delegation. The most remarkable qualities of Mao Tse Tung was his modesty and simplicity. He also said that now he knows Gandhi better.
Narindar Chopra spoke on Kabir and his messages. He said that Kabir was born as a orphan and uneducated but was a person with practical wisdom and was very much secular. He was also spiritualist. He lived simple life and and was always search of truth. He contributed 700 verses in the literature.
Bharat Desai, L Venkatesan and Dr Mathur contributed few humorous presentations.
Thereafter Guest Artist Satish Gadagkar, presented his musical presentations on violin and Sonali Srivastav accompanied him on tabla. He also presented Indian filmy tunes in his presentations. It was very well received

ICC Sunnyvale Reviews Current Events

The India Community Center of Sunnyvale reviewed current events Mar. 5 at its center in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Laxmi Ramkrishna Ayyar started off the program with a devotional song. Ayyar was followed by N. Srinivasan, a doctor by profession, who gave his presentation on diseases prevalent among seniors such as parkinson’s and diabetes.

Rukkmini Srinivasan gave an account of a visit her father Anantsam Iyenger had made to China during which time Iyenger also visited Mao Tse Tung. Iyenger was then the speaker of the Lok sabha of the Indian Parliament and was leading a delegation of parliamentary officials. Srinivasan shared the concerns that both her father and Tung had at the time regarding the two countries’ future.

Following Srinivasan, Narindar Chopra spoke about Kabir and his messages of brotherhood and love, which can be found in the 700 or so verses that Kabir contributed to Indian literature.

Entertainment for the event was provided by Bharat Desai, L. Venkatesan, and Mathur’s comedy presentations. Guest artist Satish Gadagkar performed with his violin while Sonali Srivastav accompanied him on tabla. M. Santhnam offered the vote of thanks at the end.
