'Current Events Session as on 07/07/08, Monday

The Diamond Jubilee Session of 'Current Events' program was celebrated on a Grand scale at India Community Center ,Cupertino on 7th July 08. It was attended by Naren Bakshi, President ,Gopi Godhwani, Chairperson,Senior, and Vishnu Sharma,Director, of India Community Center, respectively.
The Guest Speaker of the day was Y S Hegde, former Managing Director of 'The Can finance, Home Ltd,and former General Manager of Canara Bank, India. Sannihita a Guest artist presented melodious Classical, Semi classical, Music. It was well attended celebration and Community Hall was fully packed. The program was conducted by Bharat Desai.
The program started with the Sarvadharma prayer by Varsha Desai.
Thereafter Bharat Desai introduced all Seniors who presented the talk on various subjects.
V K Dorairaj , talked on the present sensitive situation in Iran and Iraq. He added that the Iran proceeding with the making of Nuclear Bomb have made the Middle East crises bad to worse. A Narayanaswami talked on the Dynasty Rule wherein he mentioned about Nehru to Bush including Clinton Dynasty in detailed. He added that dynasty have now infiltrated in Movie Industry and including in all walk of life. C G Desai briefed the seniors in detailed regarding various benefits available in the Santa Clara county. He gave details regarding SSI, Medical/Medicare, Citizenship, and Transportation System. He also gave details regarding In-Home Supportive services for disable Seniors. Suresh Sharma was of view that cultural changes are being taking place in the Indian Society. He added that even our good cultural value are being also diluted due to economical changes. Dr a Srinivasan gave advantage of fermented food and cautioned regarding the processed food.
Thereafter Y S Hegde, Consultant, The TaTa Consultative Services was introduced by Bharat Desai. He gave very interesting and informative talk on the India's Past, Present and Future. He said India was robbed by colonial power and educationally also ruin during their rule. It brought poverty and illiteracy. However now India is again on the path of prosperity. He also mentioned about the Indians who made major contribution in world economy. He predicted that within two decades India will be economic power in the world.

Naren Bakshi, President, India Community Center, appealed to work for the progress and unity of the Indo American Community. He appreciated the contributions made by various people in making India Community Center successful. He also appreciated the' Current Events' Program.
Dinesh Bajaj former president of Indo American Community Service Center also appreciated and gave his best wishes to 'Current Events' program. Gopi Godhwani described how India community center have helped Indo American Community in Bay Area. She gave few instances to substantiate the same.
Thereafter Sunnihita a rising Classical and Semi Classical Musical artist of Bay Area presented a Music which was received very well.
R Parthasarthy summed up regarding the program and praised all the participants. He also proposed vote of thanks at the end.
