Nisha Harpalani offered devotional songs in the beginning of the program.It was received very well.
Thereafter Bharat Desai introduced the eminent guest Dr V K Jotwani, M Santhnam and Artist a Violinist Satish Gadadkar to the members.
Dr Jotwani who is a former Senior Doctor from the Health Services of Government of India spoke on America, Health Services of the various countries including on the present Health Care Bill.
Dr V T Jotwani stated that the America has real democracy along with Justice and Transparency in the day to day administration. However America is misunderstood in the middle east as it supports modern outlook and condemn fanaticism and conservatism. Besides that America always went against some of the countries to protect over all interest of the world and that too against the evil forces. The presence of America in those countries have always encouraged the developments. The countries like South Korea, Japan,Vietnam, West Germany are some of the shining examples of American help for rebuilding.
He further added that America is spending the 18% of its budget on Health Care in comparison with the budget of 6% to 7% of UK and other European Countries. He said the Health Care Reforms are very much due as 30% of American population is still not covered under Health Insurance. Besides that the uncovered people are compelled to go under emergency which is very expensive. In view of above it is necessary to cover them under Health Care Insurance. He further pointed out that in UK people are covered by Government insurance but there is a considerable waiting period. However he concluded that we will have to trim our health care system in order to make it available to all uninsured American.
M Santhanam then gave talk on 'India '. He pointed out the recent state visit of Indian Prim Minister to America.
He added that India has come to some understanding with America regarding Nuclear Energy and Terrorism Successfully. Besides that India has also signed Nuclear Deal with Russia.
He also discussed 'The Babri Masjid Demolition' Report. He said that it came after 16 years with 8 crores rupees expenses. It appears to be futile exercise as it does not held any body responsible. Besides that it does not mention anything about then Central Government Under P Narshirao which did not took any active steps to prevent demolition of mosque.
Santhnam then discussed the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai. He commented that it was the black spot on India as no proper steps were taken to prevent it. Even our intelligence is also found ineffective as Hadley and his friend visited India several time unchecked before that terror attack.
He was also sorry that one of the best Public Sector Air lines 'Air India' is loosing five to ten crores daily with the accumulated losses are up to five thousand crores. He said 'It may be due to high fuel cost and low yields but misuse of certain travel facilities by VIPs may be also adding to its losses.
On the Global Warming he said that Himalayan Glaciers are shifting which may reduce the flows of water in Ganges, and Brahmaputra Rivers etc. We have to take concrete steps against Global Warming. He also informed that China is doing better then India in respect of Global Warming.
M Santhnam concluded his talk by giving details regarding present popular movies like 'Paa'. He praised Sachin Tandulkar on establishing various world record in cricket.
Hari Varma,Bhikhubhai Patel, Tyagrajan and M L Swamy considerably contributed in the discussion.
Satish Gadadkar presented classical and semi classical music on violin. it was also received very well
