Smt Shyamala K Narvankar offered devotional songs in her melodious voice at the beginning of the program. Thereafter Bharat Desai introduced the eminent persons who were supposed to present talk on the various topics.
Smt Shakuntalabahadur a writer/poetess presented her talk on the present ‘UP’ state of India. She went on briefing on the contributions of UP in the Spheres of politics, education, religion art and culture. She informed that the ‘UP’ had given number of prime ministers to India including Jawaharlal Nehru, Lalbahadur Shashtri, Indira Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar etc. She added that major pious rivers like Ganges, Yamuna are flowing through ‘UP’. Besides that the major Hindu religious centers like Ayodhya, Mathura, Allahabad, Varanasi and Buddhist centers like Sarnath, Kushinagar are also situated in the UP. Thus it is a political religious base of major religions of India. Lucknow is well known in art and culture as well as. Artist like Pundit Ravishanker, Allrakhakhan, Hariprashad Chorasia, Bismillahkhan and Amitabh Bachan are the gift of UP. IIT, Kanpur IIM,Lucknow and Banaras Kashi Vidyapith, Banaras are some of the prominent educational institutions of the UP. The UP is also rich in verities of Food. She added that even modern development has also taken place in the UP, including developments of Big Mall, Shopping Centers etc. She concluded that UP has also given leadership in freedom struggle including the historical revolt of independence in the year 1857.
Smt Amrita Verma gave analytical briefing on American health care system and on the present health Care Bill. She briefed that American health care system is very expensive in comparison with other developed countries. It requires immediate repaired. She pointed out that millions of Americans are not covered under health care. She emphasized on universal health care system with quality, low-cost and elimination of malpractices.
Dr R M Mathur described the position of Indian army during Indo China conflict of 1962. He said army was lacking in ammunition other supply during the war. Army was not supplied even proper clothes, shoes and tents in very extreme weather. Four soldiers were asked to accommodate themselves in small tent in such cold weather. He informed that even canons were not installed at proper angel on the war front. He concluded that it was due to the lack of proper leadership then.
Bharat Desai informed that India is now well prepared with speedy troop movements facilities, and better arm supplies. The modern air strips are built up near Ladakh and Tejpure at Assam. He also informed that one full squadron with Russian Sukhoi Aircrafts is posted at Tejpure, Assam. This is in view of china’s claim over Arunachal Pradesh. The separate mountain divisions are also created. He further added that India is also exploring to buy light tanks which can be used in Hilly areas. The Indian authorities have come to conclusion that the different versions of Indo China boundary’s maps prepared by various agencies have created confusion. We are pushed far behind the actual line of control because of those reasons. Besides that China has now also started challenging super power America on different issues for showing its economical and military strength. However in view of above developments Indian government is now more conscious and well prepared then year 1962.
Thereafter Dr V T Jotwani, Suresh Sharma, Hari Verma, Shashtri and Shakuntalabahadur also participated in the discussion on the presentations.
Padma Sohoni presented melodious song which was received very well by members. Shakuntalabahadur, Pushpa Mathur, Padma Sohoni, also sang chorus.
Suresh Sharma summed up and complimented all participants for their interesting presentations. He also proposed vote of thanks at the end.
